San Antonio for the weekend

I've been reading some friends blogs and wanting to get back to updating my own blog and decided to make a goal of blogging once a week.  I want a place for my kids to look back and not just see pictures of what we did, but actually have a "diary" of what we did to reflect on for years to come.  So, hopefully I will be able to keep this up.  Wish me luck!

This past weekend we took a mini vacation with the kids and some great friends and went to San Antonio.  We've been planning it for a few months and the kids have been super excited.  We were originally planning on going to Sea World, but Six Flags was the cheaper route thanks to their Read to Succeed 360 minute tickets from the school.  We will have to save up for Sea World and go when it's not so HOT!  I love the state of Texas, but sometimes the heat is too intense in the summer.

We hit the road Friday afternoon when Robert got home from work.

We had to stop for snack time at a local favorite for yummy kolaches!

We finally made it down to the hotel and changed clothes and had a photo session while waiting on our friends to go to dinner.  Unfortunately, one of my kids wasn't in a photo taking mood.

We headed to the Riverwalk and some delicious Mexican food and then headed back to the hotel for a good night's sleep in preparation for all the festivities on Saturday!  Due to some crazy friends, we had a prank wake-up call at 6 AM.  HAHA!  Luckily, the kids didn't hear it, but it made for a frantic jump out of the bed by Robert and I to get to the phone in time.  The kids finally rolled out of bed around 9:30 and a quick breakfast in the hotel and we were headed to Fiesta Texas.

I'm not going to lie, it was HOT, but the kids were troopers all day and had a lot of fun.  Of course, we had to hit all the kid rides.

The girls were able to cool off on a water ride with Robert, while I stayed with Braden.

Don't worry, he had A LOT to drink that day!

We decided to head over to the water park and stayed there the rest of the afternoon to stay cool.

We rode a few rides and floated the lazy river and decided it was time to head back to the hotel because the kids were hot and tired.

We had a quick snack back at the hotel room and the kids were dying to go to the pool.  We let them play in the pool until it was time to get ready for dinner.

We visited the Riverwalk again and some more yummy Mexican food.  One can never have enough Mexican food, in my opinion!!  We had a LARGE party and so had to wait a little while for our table.  I wanted to get a picture of the kids and Braden was acting silly, as usual!

Much better!

Did I mention we had a LARGE party?!

Someone had too much fun and couldn't make it back to the hotel awake.

Sunday morning, it was one last meal together at breakfast before we headed home.

We decided to do some back to school shopping on the way home and Brianna and her friend, Kenna, were having fun.  Love these diva girls!!

After that it was a not so fun car ride home with stop and go traffic, but a quick stop at Dairy Queen to make everything better.  We had a wonderful weekend and made lots of memories to look back on for years to come.  The kids had a blast and it is now 9:45 on Monday morning and two of them are still asleep.  Definitely a weekend to remember!!

Summer is winding down and school starts in three weeks, and not all of the kids are excited about that.  To be honest, this mom isn't either in some ways, but the teacher in me is excited to start a new year and get back into routine.  Also, I love fall and am looking forward to the cooler weather.  However, what I love most about the fall is football!

GO COWBOYS!!
